Mr Roger Williams
When formulating my testimonial to Sensei Colwell I began to recollect my first memories of him and recounted that my association with him goes back over 30 years to the days of the first Cheshire& North Wales Championships.
I am aware that when forwarding testimonials about individuals that you admire and respect it is all to easy to go slightly over the top and embellish your recollections. Even being aware of this possibility I find myself forwarding that Sensei Colwell belongs in that rare group of unique characters that where the pioneers of British Karate.
Renowned for his extensive knowledge of Karate, Ju-Jitsu and Kobudo, Sensei Colwell radiates an aura of confidence and self-belief. Despite being in his seventies Sensei Colwell still trains and leads by example philosophy When in conversation with Sensei Colwell it is immediately apparent that not only does he have an obvious in depth knowledge of Karate but he also retains the most amazing passion for all martial arts.
With a reputation as a committed Traditionalist with an incisive mind, Sensei Colwell is still paving the way for others to follow by constantly asking questions of himself as well as others in order to further his martial art knowledge.
I would conclude by forwarding that outside the Dojo Sensei Colwell is a deeply loyal and reflective person and possess a typical scouse humour and is a warm and sincere host.
