Mr Roy Fox

I first met Sensei Ronnie Colwell in the early '70s along with my Instructor the late Colin Williams, Chief Instructor of the then Chester Shotokan Karate Group, I was a team member of Chester Shotokan `A` team, well known on the Karate circuit, having had many individual and team successes in several national and international competitions, and of course everyone from the "old school" will remember Colin's own Championships " The Chester & North Wales Open" which became the main event to enter on the annual Karate calendar.

As time progressed, M.A.C. (martial arts commission) was formed, of which Ronnie played a key roll alongside the likes of David Mitchell. We at Chester left the K.U.G.B. when "Thames Karate " was formed, ( how it became to be called Thames Karate is another story!!) this was an amalgamation of Karate clubs dedicated to the natural advancement of Karate in the UK. Ronnie the Chief Instructor of the L.S.K.C. Liverpool based in Toxteth, and ourselves Chester Shotokan Group, became very close, not only as fellow
Karateka, but more importantly to me, close friends, a friendship that has stood the test of time.

I remember as yesterday when Ronnie would come over to Chester and instruct a handful of selected senior grades, devastating close combat techniques, also weapon training of the likes today's Karateka will never see, let alone be privileged as I have, to be Instructed on a one to one basis from a true master of this Ancient art.

Thank you Sensei
