Mr Trevor Streets

My first contact with Colwell Sensei was some 20 years ago after he and my Chief Instructor, Bill Evans, built up a friendship born from countless hours spent together at governing body meetings.

From the start, Colwell Sensei gave me great advice and encouragement. He has the knack of supplying you with answers before you've even thought of the question, such is his undoubted experience in the world of BUDO.

Since those early days our relationship has developed even further to a point when Colwell sensei publicly declared me his uchi deshi. A very special position, by which I'm continually honoured.

Colwell sensei in many ways stands alone from the establishment, supremely confident on who he is and his technical abilities. A man that did his Budo apprenticeship in the most traditional dojo in Japan and Europe, Colwell sensei is fiercely adamant that he be judged as who he is rather than the long list of people he trained with.

To summarise, Colwell sensei is a remarkable individual who knows and loves the old ways of Budo, yet still on a daily basis challenges himself and his abilities in the modern age.
